ROB STEINBERG was born in Philadelphia and graduated Tulane University, New Orleans near the top of his class, creating the university’s first self-designed major in Communications.
Rob spent eight years in the music industry involved with marketing, promotion, publishing and management working with such noted acts as the Scorpions, War, Bob Marley & the Wailers and Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers. After a near-fatal automobile accident, Rob switched careers, choosing to direct his talents toward the film business.
As an actor (see Actor Bio) Rob has appeared in over sixty feature films, television shows and commercials. Over the years Rob has worked with such noted Hollywood luminaries as Steve McQueen, Stephen Frears, Joel Silver, Lawrence Gordon, Renny Harlin, Barbet Schroeder, Jonathan Kaplan and Academy Award winners Delbert Mann and George Clooney.
Rob has a pivotal role in the critically acclaimed film 12 YEARS A SLAVE as “Mr. Parker” who rescued the wrongly enslaved Solomon Northup. A recent article about his experience as “Mr. Parker” called “12 Years A Slave; More Than A Film” was published in The Hollywood Journal.
Rob wrote the short film SCORN (2012), staring James DuMont about a cheating husband and he wrote, produced, and starred in a short film called ROSES NEVER DIE. Rob produced his first feature film RESOLUTION, wearing hats as both executive producer and star and he also executive produced IN A DARK PLACE distributed by Cosmos Films.
Rob is currently writing and developing a romantic comedy set in New Orleans about a hard drinking woman blues singer who falls for a recently divorced, overly sensitive, male college professor called TELL IT LIKE IS. Also under the pen… or the keyboard is a book of bizarre personal vignettes called IT’S OKAY, I’M WITH THE BAND. A one-man stage production of the book will follow.
In 2004, Rob won a Telly Award for best writer of an Academic Short as part of a CD-Rom that accompanied an educational text book on economics, produced by Publishers Media Corporation. Rob co-wrote a six-part children’s series with Scholastic Video called “Posie Paints” playing several characters and voicing the lead — an animated pigeon.
Rob’s production company, SCARLET FIRE ENTERTAINMENT, has created a half-hour television pilot called PAR FOR THE COURSE. Think Cheers meets Tin Cup. Also in development is BIRDS OF A FEATHER, an animated feature where rival gangs of pigeons battle over territory, prejudice and love in New York’s Central Park. It’s West Side Story with pigeons. Rob is also developing a pilot called UNMANAGEABLE, about a music manager and his overly demanding and needy artists.
Rob is working with writers, directors and talent to package feature films.
